Abstract: Transition metal catalysis is intricate, necessitating deep understanding of every component—catalyst, substrate, ligand, base, additive, solvent, and oxidant—under specific experimental conditions. This challenge requires collaborative efforts across analytical, physical, synthetic, and theoretical sciences. My presentation will discuss our collaborative computational and experimental advancements in selective C–H bond functionalization and solar-to-chemical energy conversion. We focus on site-selective C–H functionalization and developing effective water oxidation catalysts. These efforts are essential for creating sustainable, green, and economically viable technologies.
