Our department is where students interested in nature via chemistry gather and become great scientists who will shape the academia and industry by conducting fundamental research in chemistry and developing technologies. Through the 150 years long history of the department, students are given excellent opportunities to acquire insights of chemistry as the central science and learn basic theories as well as experimental skills necessary for performing research in advanced chemistry. Most undergraduate students who graduate from the department advance to the graduate programs and obtain Master's or Ph.D. degrees in order to become leaders in science and engineering. The department fosters an internationally friendly educational and research environment where international students and domestic students interested in international relations study and work together. In fact, all the courses are taught in English. The department seeks for students who love chemistry and looks forward to working with you.
