| 5 | Term of Employment & Renewal of contract | Five years. However, reappointment shall be limited to one time, and the term of office after reappointment shall not exceed March 31, 2033. Renewal of the agreement will be determined by the following factors: All relevant factors, such as progress of the work assigned to you, your performance, work record, and attitude, your medical conditions, budget status, and/or the amount of the work at the end of the term. |

| 9 | Content of Work Duties | The successful candidate will be expected to undertake world-class research in their area of expertise and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including lectures, tutorials, and laboratory work. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support for the new Global Standard Science Education Division the University of Tokyo’s ongoing efforts to further internationalize its student body and curriculum. In principle, the University could change or reassign work duties, but not against one’s will. (In accordance with Article 4 of the Regulations on the Employment of University of Tokyo Faculty Members). |
| 10 | Working Hours | Based on the discretionary work system for professional work, working hours are deemed to be 7 hours and 45 minutes per day, Monday to Friday. |
| 11 | Days off | Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays and end-of-year holidays (December 29 to January 3) |

| 13 | Wages, etc. | An annual-based salary system. Salary will be decided after taking into account the successful candidate’s academic and professional background, etc. |

| 16 | Application materials required | • Curriculum vitae (this should include age, email address, and other contact details, and a summary of academic and professional career from high school, including the date of university graduation) • A summary of the main research and teaching activities of the applicant (total of about 1000 words). • List of publications and related scientific output, which should be divided into the following four (4) types; – Refereed papers and review articles – Non-refereed papers and review articles – Books – Other relevant material • PDF files of up to five (5) significant publications • Outline of aspirations and plans for research and education after taking office (about 1000 words), including an explanation of how the candidate proposes to work with one of the groups in the Department of Chemistry. • Names and contact information for two (2) referees who can provide an independent assessment of the candidate. |
