Urgent Message to Graduate and Undergraduate Students of Department of
\nChemistry<\/p>\n

In light of the fact that the spread of the novel coronavirus in Tokyo
\nhas been accelerated and that the Governor of Saitama Prefecture has
\nrequested the citizens to refrain from moving to Tokyo, I had urgent
\ndiscussion with Professor Hiroyuki Isobe, the next chair of the
\ndepartment, about how we could handle this difficult situation.<\/p>\n

Hereby I request all the graduate and undergraduate students of
\nDepartment of Chemistry to conduct research and study at home until
\nApril 10 (Fri) as much as possible.<\/p>\n

This request is based on the recommendation issued by the University of
\nTokyo on Thursday, March 26, telling that \u201cprofessors and researchers
\nshould work at home and students should study at home even on weekdays.\u201d<\/p>\n

This request is not mandatory at all. However, considering that even
\nyoung people can be in serious condition once infected and that the
\nnumber of infected people is rapidly increasing in Tokyo, I consider
\nthat it is inevitable to regard the current situation as extremely
\nserious. This is the reason why I came to this request today.<\/p>\n

By monitoring carefully the status of the spread of the infection, we
\nwill keep informing you of updated guidelines for you to follow.<\/p>\n
